Port Elizabeth man who was on his way to deposit money at the bank robbed and shot dead

A 35-year-old man identified as Abdul Kieran Haroon has been reportedly shot dead at a traffic light in Port Elizabeth on Monday afternoon.

A 35-year-old man identified as Abdul Kieran Haroon has been reportedly shot dead in a traffic light at Port Elizabeth on Monday afternoon.

It was gathered that Haroon together with two other men was inside a Quantum bus on their way to pay money at the bank when six men suspected to be working with information waylaid them at the traffic light at CJ Langenhoven and Norvic roads.

The six men surrounded their bus with one of them armed with a firearm, they opened the door of the vehicle demanding money from Harron and others in the vehicle according to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg.

“One suspect opened the driver’s door and demanded money. None of the occupants responded to the claim and a shot was fired, which (Haroon) struck in the chest, ” Sandra stated.

Earlier before the incident happened Haroon with his colleagues had gone to collect some money from different companies before they left Korsten to the bank.

The suspects fled the scene after the money Haroon and his colleagues had with them in the vehicle was handed over to them.

The Port Elizabeth police are now looking for the suspects who are believed to be six in numbers. Police urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact 041 394 6243 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
